Hello Patricia! If you have already purchased your flooring or if you are considering a specific brand there are usually directions in the flooring packages that are very easy to follow. You can also visit the website of your flooring company and many times there are installation videos. There are also many videos on YouTube that you can watch. Not all "Pergo like" floors are installed exactly the same so it is best to follow the directions from company who made your floor. If you need to educate yourself on what is the best flooring for your needs do your research in stores and online. You can buy inexpensive flooring with a thin wear layer or spend a bit more money and purchase a floor that has a thicker wear layer and be more durable. There is also water proof and water resistant flooring available. Installing a floating floor is really not too difficult with the right tools. Sometimes it can be tricky with click and lock floating floors to get the hang of how the floors click together but once you understand the process it is pretty easy.

Yes, research. There are a lot of issues with laminate floors that are not good. I'd rather just have a subfloor.
