How to Make DIY Christmas Crafts for Kids
This is such a fun tradition to start with your kids! Spend time together making magical reindeer food to leave on the lawn on December 24th! This is the perfect Christmas craft for kids and it's a Santa-approved recipe (wink wink), so we know the reindeer will love it!
Recipe:
- Oats - The staple of any healthy reindeer meal
- Cocoa Powder - Keeps them warm all night long
- Powdered Sugar - Santa’s secret ingredient
- Glitter - Just a little sprinkle will do, but helps guide the reindeer to your home
Set the ingredients up assembly line style (add cute tags to identify each ingredient) and let your kiddos assemble the recipe right into cloth sacks. This is an awesome holiday party activity!
How to decorate your reindeer Christmas craft
For the bags, we went with a fingerprint reindeer pattern- another great way to get the kids involved.
Materials
- Cloth Sacks (we got ours at Michael’s)
- Brown and Red Craft Paint
- Thin Paintbrush
- Sharpie or Fabric Marker
Paint your pointer finger with brown paint and press evenly onto the cloth sack to create the shape of the reindeer’s head. Re-apply paint to your finger between each print, so you have even paint coverage. Use the red paint and thin paintbrush to add a nose to each reindeer. Allow to dry fully (ours took about 30 minutes) and then add eyes and antlers using the black Sharpie marker.
This cute, kid-friendly DIY project is one that has become an annual tradition in our home and we always get excited to feed Rudolph and his friends on Christmas eve!
