How do I repair a rip in a "pet-proof" sofa?
I have a "pet-proof" sofa with some sort of blended leather and micro fiber. My dog snagged a nail in it and ripped the fabric about 2 inches. The cushions are attached to the frame. How do I repair this rip? I've tried sewing with a curved needle but it came open again. HELP!

Hello couch ripped need to find solutions.
Hi Gerald - I would try sewing with a thicker thread that might be stronger. Sorry you are having this trouble!
Hi Gerald,
The thicker thread or doubled, tripled thread may do the trick, other than that make a patch and sew it on. You might be able to take some of the fabric from an inconspicuous spot.
It came open because you did not seal the material. Go to the fabric store and buy fray check. Use sparingly along all open edges, let dry 24 hours and then sew again.

Thank you!
I suggest that you put some backing fabric inside the rip. Use a woven fabric not a knit, use just enough to be bigger than the rip. Sew it again, but catch the backer fabric in your stitches. After the rip is closed you can seal it with FraCheck, but that will make it stiff since it is esentially a glue.
