What's the best flower/plant to grow in Texas?
I know that opinions vary, but what's your opinion?!I have great luck w Rosemary plants. Green all year long.
Leave them alone, then when they come up again 2nd year after winter they will bloom this is called "Bolting" going to seed. Your grandma may have wanted to save the seeds they grow much better than store bought because they have been climatized to your soil, weather. Here's videos I found about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2oQGiUk8gM MORE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io6WCJkPcbI MORE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H67DdBXmRks
in the early spring i get onion seedlings from the plat store, i plant these on my garden, but youc an also plant the where ever you wish. If you do not pull them out, you just leave them be, they do not freeze and they multiply like crazy!! All the greens in the video are onions that are about to flower - this is feb/ march in tx. Each little section started as 1 little onioin plant that produced a huge section.

Here are some of mine. I grow year round as I am in zone 9. Just let them be and see what happens in the spring.
Onions and cabbages should be planted the same time any cool weather vegetables are planted. In TN we planted them the end of February or first part of March. That is along the I 40 corridor, below the Mason Dixon line. Farther north probably in early May if you do not get too warm of days, to start inside in Feb and put out in May also works.
Here's a couple artcles you may find helpful.
