Hi Sand Man,
What are your plans for your sandy soil?
Some information in this article may help you:

Sandy Soil is excellent because it is so easy to dig in. But you need to add some "substance" in order to grow things.
I use a mixture of equal parts of top soil and sand. You will need to dig out part of the sand to allow for the top soil. Then add about 1/4 that much cow manure. If you are in a dry area, you may want to add watering crystals.
A landscaper I once had added pecan shells to keep the soil to add not only something to keep the soil lighter, but to have a decaying substance in the area.
I use a lot of the cheaper top soil, but when I put in plants, I dig down and fill with Miracle Grow top soil which has resulted in amazing results.
Sand has a way of washing away, so you may want to add some sort of border around any planting beds. Lawn timbers are the easiest to deal with. Drill holes in the corners and drive rebar down through the holes about 12" into the ground to hold them in place. Here is a photo of my lawn timber bed. It looks pretty sparse as I had not replanted it for the summer at this time.
