How can I install tile on a basement wall?
I am building a custom shower in a corner of a basement. The existing drain is there, hence the location. Do I have to stud out the foundation wall or can I lay tile right on the concrete wall?

You need to stud out the wall and install tile backer board. Seal all joints to waterproof. Wouldn't hurt to insulate also.
Oh boy. No you can not install tile on a concrete wall. I highly suggest you go over your local Building codes. And speak to the permit office as well. See if these help.
