How do I lower my Red Tip Bushes?

My front of the house has redtips that are huge. Can they be cut way back? Have lost 2 and replaced with new plants. The new ones are 3 or 4 years old, but are still just 2' tall. Will I kill them if I cut my tall ones that low?

Do the heavy pruning in the winter or dormant season and the tip pruning in the spring and summer.

The rule of thumb is if you are cutting down any shrub, only cut 1/3 at at time in order to let the plant recover.

Hi, I prefer to give my evergreen shrubs a trim to shape in late mid/late summer so they have time to recover a bit before winter. but if worried and you need to trim them, don't trim back too hard this time.
