How do I refinish kitchen/bath cabinets that are water damaged?
Both my kitchen/bath oak cabinets are water damaged. They are 30 years old.What would be the easiest way to refinsh them?My husband & I are in our 70's & on S.S.

If they are solid oak, clean with TSP. Mark drawers and doors as you remove to put back in correct space. Sand off sheen and water damage, prime with Oil based primer, lightly sand smooth, then paint with two coats of oil based paint.
If you want to restain, you'll have to strip or sand off old finish, restain with penetrating stain, add a thin coat of shellac to reseal, sand smooth again, apply 2 coats of polyurethane
You can do it for just the cost of the materials, just a lot of steps.
