When do I divide Black-eyed Susans?
I absolutely love my black eyed Susan’s but they have taken over my entire 12’ x12’ & beyond flower garden. When is the right time to move some of them to new areas?

You can divide rudbeckia (Black-eyed Susan) in the late fall or early spring. They should be divided about once every 4-5 years.

Moving thinning Perennials is best in fall, early winter, winter when they are dormant growth has slowed down. If the ground is not frozen & you can dig in it you can do it. Spring is good to plant but dividing/moving best in fall. The Perennials start growing under ground before you'll see above ground growth.Donate(church, animal shelters, adult or kids rec centers),sell,or give away(neighbors, put sign out front free to good home) clumps you do not want, these Rudebekia are major draws/excellent for bees, moths & butterflies which are dying at alarming rates.
