How to Paint a Vinyl Chair
Painting a Vinyl Chair! It is possible to paint vinyl upholstery and make it super soft, plus durable. Check out my tips and products I used. Painting an existing vinyl upholstery is far easier than reupholstering!
You can paint vinyl and have it be durable! I used CeCe Caldwell's 100% chalk and clay based paints for this project. They are very durable and adhere with pretty much any surface. Why not vinyl?
Here is my chair before. Good condition, but in person, it is obviously vinyl, not leather. Also, I didn't want the hassle of tearing off the vinyl, not to mention the nail heads.
I used one coat of CeCe Caldwell's Cinco Bayou Moss. When it was thoroughly dry, I actually "sanded" the vinyl with this fine grit sanding pad. This distressed the paint and smoothed everything to a lovely, soft finish.
I wanted the chair to look worn, like an old distressed leather bomber jacket.
I painted the frame of the chair in only one coat of CeCe Caldwell's Vintage White. I sealed the entire piece with CeCe Caldwell's hard wearing Endurance. Now the chair and the finish is durable, yet super comfortable. For a more in depth tutorial, please visit my blog at:
