Hi Christiane, this is Peggy. I live in Indiana and it gets pretty cold here, but not as cold as you get. Here are some winter gardening ideas, but you may want to use some protection for your plants (green house or at least covering.) Good luck and stay warm. There are plenty of edibles that you can plant in wintertime, including garlic, leeks,onions, radishes, lettuce, peas, potatoes, chard, spinach, rhubarb, and other leafy greens such as bok choy and kale. If you've already planted these yummy treats, then you can harvest them straight through winter.

I'd suggest you stick to house plants for the moment. You can create your own indoor garden!

Dang, I sure do miss the snow and cold off Lake Erie, which is where I am from-the Buffalo area. Lake effect snows from Canada were something to behold!

Living in MD now and would suggest winter crops of onion, garlic, and spinach. Other cold crops are available through seed catalogues and local nurseries.
