Buy a dog
Spread some cayenne pepper around the plants.
put chicken wire over top of dirt in pot plants will grow up thru it. Please don't use any spices or oils that burn them they don't associate the burn with getting in your plants,it doesn't affect them til after they leave & rub their face, ears, eyes, private parts and get seriously injured. They have probably buried some food in there for storage & have come back to get it;in the fall cover the tops of pots with a few rocks or small clay plant saucer so they cannot bury anything in it for storage or maybe they are just eating your plants use chicken wire. if you have alot like a container garden use a motion sensor sprinkler
Place river rocks on top of the soil. They are too heavy and will move on. Plus it makes the plants look nice too.
