Declaw your animal.
You can get claw covers at pet stores. OR< you could apply some fabric or shelf liner to the sills using a glue or mod podge so that it is removed easily in the future.
You might have some luck with laminate (such as Formica) cut to fit on your sills. You can buy it at places like Home Depot and Lowes, or online in many colors and finishes, It's not that hard to cut, and you could use a non-permanent method of adhering it so that the sills could be returned to original if you move.
For the sills my girlfriends cat likes to use, she went to a stoneyard and purchased remnant bits and for a nominal fee, had cur to her specifications and polished . Since they are heavy, she didn't even have to glue them down.
Hi JoAnn. I think something like shelf liner could work for you. This way you could cut it to fit your windowsills exactly. Good luck JoAnn. And Happy 2021.
Shelf liner will last for a while but with cat's sharp claws not that long. If you don't want to change the look and still protect the sills, get Home Depot to cut plexiglass -for free- pieces the length and width of the sills and hold them in place with clear silicone on the sides. You could use two screws buy drilling holes first but if you remove them you have two holes to patch.
Hi! My daughter had beveled glass cut at a glass shop to cover hers. Good luck!
Maybe Plexiglass on top!
Plexiglass (plastic) that can be screwed into the edges. Make it a tiny bit deeper (hanging over edge). Two screws with holes pre-drilled should do the trick. Home Depot can cut for you.
