How to redo a table top?
Have a round oak table with tiles in the center with oak around the outside on top that has lost it's goodness. How to restain the wood on table top? Do I have to tape off the tiles first ?

Hi Midge, it's going to depend on the tile of tiles. If they're porous I would tape them off first
I would tape off the tiles first, Midge. The wood edge can be stripped with Citristrip, lightly sanded and then restained. Be sure to seal it. I would use polyurethane for a table that gets heavy use. Good luck with your project!
Can you share a photo? That would help for tips. :)
I would protect the rules from the chemicals and sanding by taping the edges and covering the rules with plastic or cardboard.
