Cilantro will bolt overnight in hot summer temps. I am in zone 9 and grow mostly in fall, winter and early spring. I use so much of it in cooking and in salads buying for a few months is no big deal. My local 99 Cent store sells 3 or 4 healthy bunches for a dollar as does the local Hispanic market. If you have rabbits, they live cilantro! Mine used to jump for joy when he saw it when unloading my groceries.
Plant cilantro in full sun or an area that only gets a little bit of shade. It likes well drained soil, but it likes to stay moist.
Hi Lauri, Plant cilantro in an area with full sun, but provide shade from intense heat if you live the South. Check soil often and water when the top inch becomes dry. Add a 3-inch layer of mulch to help preserve soil moisture and prevent weeds.
