Brick and mortar Lisa:
7 bricks at the base
7 bricks at layer 2
6 bricks at layer 3
5 bricks at layer 4
4 bricks at layer 5
It only takes 29 bricks and a Small Bag of Mortar.
From that you learn to construct other items too.
Dig a hole about 2 feet deep as wide as you want your logs. Put about 6 inches of sand. Add logs and fire. Cheap but temporary.

Lisa....Google has some great fire pit instructions and videos.
The easiest way to make a fire pit is to just use large rocks. Lay them in a circle and have your fire inside the rocks. Easy and usually free if you have access to rocks.
