Bigger than bats. Like the size of an adult mouse? Yikes.
Bigger than bats is bird size, are you sure you are not exaggerating?
Pretty sure they mean nats/gnats Probably aphids Use Neem oil nontoxic to spray the plants. Also you can buy live Lady bugs they will eat the aphids both ways are organic so you can still eat your veggies. and they won't kill the beneficial bugs that are needed to pollinate your veggies
Dawn dish soap and water mix

Hi Gene, hope this helps you. Make a homemade spray
Mix 1 cup of vegetable oil with 1 tablespoon of mild liquid soap. Add 2-8 teaspoons of this mixture to 1 quart of water and spray your plants as above. The oil in this spray smothers the insects, so it is effective on aphids, thrips, mites, and scale.
Hi Gene: You can make a mix of 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water and a drop or two of Dawn dishwashing soap and spray it on. And, you can get some lady bugs to put in your garden and they will eat the bugs.
Look to Companion Plants, Google, these are plants that repel pests, works really well.
Whit fly. Buy Spray!
I usually put some netting over everything and it does a good job of keeping hungry bugs out.
