Lightly sand the vanity then prime and paint.

Hi Judy! I would lightly sand them with 220 grit until smooth. Then use a chalk based or mineral paint to repaint cabinets. :)

DIxie Belle is great for cabinets and so is Annie Sloan!

If you are looking to repaint - I recently discovered Oil Bond (you can get it here on Amazon where you rub this first on your cabinets. This helps the paint stick so you DON'T NEED TO SAND!! Also add a bit of Oil Bond to your paint. I would also spend a bit more for specific cabinet paint to ensure a smooth finish. I recently did this on my bathroom vanity and it turned out fantastic! Here are my pics of my project: No peeling after I used Oil Bond!

  • I recommend a paint with a higher sheen. The paint may be peeling from the humidity in the bathroom. A higher sheen can handle the humidity better and won't peel.
