How can I decorate a child's bedroom with an ocean theme?
My grandmother loves to go to the beach and I want to change her walls and room as an ocean with mermaids, seahorses, seashells, etc. Any ideas?

Coastal Bedroom Decor
Whatever you do, please think twice before glueing sand & seashells on the wall-
my neighbor did that and they regretted it-5 years later, when they tried to re-decorate. 😞
I’m confused: your title says a “child’s bedroom”, your content says “grandmother loves” as in the Current Tense. You’re her mother?
Decorating a 8 year old girl’s room, would be different than an 80 year old “girl’s” room, obviously.
Hello there,
Simple way would be to paint the top half of the wall a sandy colour for the beach and the bottom half the colour you want you sea, and add stick on decor, or 3 colours to represent sky, sand and sea. Add Swimmers, Sand Castles , Deck chairs, Sunshine, surfers, shells, fish, starfish, sea creatures and Coral, Seaweed etc.......
In fact every thing it is she really likes about the sea...........
2 questions for you: How old is your granddaughter? Do you have an additional guest room?
What you do with the room will differ depending on your answers. The child will continue to grow older AND, guests will not feel overly welcome if that is your only space. If you decorate it solely as a child's room your guests will feel that they're invading her space.
If you're extremely thoughtful on the things you do, the space will be able to grow along with the child and feel like an "adult" area when needed. Clearly using furniture that is somewhat coastal in theme and appropriate colors will set the stage. I will note to you that we who live in coastal areas don't really use things like shells and sand in our homes lol! You can choose one wall as a focus and paint it a rich darker blue. Paint the rest of the room white so it doesn't read as "dark".
Use gray toned (along with white) furniture as it will continue to "go" with any colors you might want to change at a later date. A lot of this will depend on what flooring you've already got.
You can add lots of "coastal/ocean" pillows which any little girl will like piles of and they needn't be childish. Then, add a few HUGE stuffed animals like a mermaid, etc. that are just for her.
I'm sure you can find cling stick appliques to add to the walls when she is visiting. As long as you remove them as soon as she leaves and store them properly, they'll last as long as she wants them. You can even make a game of it: where did so-and-so swim to while you were gone? Store them back on to the non-stick surface they came on or use waxed paper if that gets lost or too crowded.

She is 5 and she lives with me. I was thinking about decals and painting the room like an ocean scene with sand and sea colored paint.
You could use ocean themed decor and bedding
