I keep a small box of instant mashed potatoes on hand and sprinkle a few spoonfuls where i think they travel. I do this at night since most are nocturnal. After they eat, the flakes expand in the stomach and well they die.
NOTE: If you have pets keep these flakes out of their reach.
Another idea is to pour Pinesol on the mound – they move right out.
Castor oil works well as a repellant
If your lawn has grubs, that may be what is attracting the moles (voles are darker and are attracted to seeds). Next year, treat your lawn with Grub X to deter moles. Clean up all leaf litter to avoid giving Japanese beetles places to hide.
One of the most common and effective mole and vole repellents is castor oil, which has an unpleasant taste and smell. Mixing three parts castor oil and one part dish soap with a gallon of water creates an effective repellent that can be sprayed on areas of mole activity. This is not only a repellent for moles; it’s also a good way to get rid of groundhogs, voles, and other rodents.
