What paint to use on vinyl couch?
I tried it and it didn’t work well for me.
It looks to me that what you have covering the cushions is the backing left over after the 'faux leather' has peeled off. This is a vinyl material that will not be porous enough to absorb the paint and have it adhere with any longevity.
IMO it would be wiser to recover the cushions rather than trying to paint them.

How To Paint Your Old Couch + Paint That Acts Like Faux Leather!
Yes. You can paint your couch. My couch was nubuck but was like matierial. I came out beautifully. However, I used latex paint.
I have a couch that has done the same as yours. I tried painting it with some paint that was supposed to be for that but it did not work. I use coverings to go on it. Wish they still had Naugahyde.
That paint cracks and it will never look as you want it to look. I would try making pillow covers for the couch. I hate to say this but it may be better just to put a quilt over it for now and save up for a new sofa.
Paint needs something to adhere to. It will just soak through the damaged areas rather than covering them up. Consider getting a slipcover or reholster them (tutorials are on Hometalk) if the cushions and frame are in decent shape. I also have to agree with Dee, that over time paint will crack as fabric is flexible. It looks nice when you first paint it but it doesn't last.
