I have a gas fireplace. It’s solid wood; mahogany. It’s 3 feet 8 inches tall and 4 ft. long. I just think it would look so much better if it was taller.
Faux fireplace?
first I would check out any antique/salvage shops in your area for mantelpieces. Or do you mean a real fireplace?
They make gas fireplaces that look real and put off heat but you don't have to hassle with all the chimney stuff as you do with real fireplaces. What about a little wood or pellet stove? They both put off more heat then a fireplace.
If you're looking for faux ones, a quick search using the search box at the top left will surely bring you ideas. A real one would be far more complex and is not a DIY.
Hi,
You could make a faux fireplace by using a wooden frame and clad with MDF and the paint as required or use Brick wallpaper or marble contact. etc.
If for Christmas only, you might be able to use Cardboard boxes taped together or An Airer for your framework. If across a corner, then a straight piece of timber might do with a cutout for the grate to sit. Have fun!

You could add a stand alone fireplace with a chimney pipe through the wall. Visit your local fireplace store. These air tights are far more functional in providing heat than a fireplace.
real fireplace or faux one ?
