We fixed a broken spring in an old chair we had. We pulled back the fabric, ordered a new spring, pulled out the old one, put it back in, and then put the fabric back.
Pat....The spring can also be tied with other strong wearing if that is possible. Good luck
You can order springs on Amazon or an upholstry supply store..... if you watch the area at 5:08 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCkGN-SNlrU&list=PLEOrjq-BYYSf77OuDHZEqj3HpU7wacWnC
Flip the sofa over, and remove part of the dust covering off the bottom to reach the broken spring. You will need an upholstry needle with a large eye to thread the twine through it, a staple gun, and maybe a new piece of the black cotton dust cover.

Be really careful with sofa springs. They are manufactured by machine under GREAT pressure. I took my old sofa apart to get it out of the door when i got a new one. When I detached one end of the spring it flew past me like a jet. Thank God it missed me or i would have been in the emergency room getting MANY stitches.
Hello Pat,
You really need to have this done by an upholster as they have all the right tools etc. but if you just want to stop the spring from catching you when you sit down, you could lay a piece of MDF under the cushions and this will help.............
Hi Pat, hope this helps you out
