I have always wanted to convert an antique silverware chest into a keepsake box and I finally found one with an inside in bad shape. Follow along as I give it a repurpose. You can find MANY more home decor and furniture relove tutorials on my blog.
I love solid wood silverware chest, they are such pretty storage vessels for silverware. This one I scored at a thrift store.
And the interior was in rough shape, yeah. I can make my keepsake box I have been yearning to do. You can check out restored vintage silverware chest tutorials from my blog HERE

I pulled out the inside and removed glue with a razor and sanded it all smooth. There is a video on the blog tutorial linked at the end of this post for in depth details.
Fun fabric from Minted.com was added to the interior to line the new keepsake chest applied with spray adhesive.
The exterior was painted in a rich deep navy milk paint from Homestead House. Two coats were brushed on then all was sponge sanded smooth and distressed then clear waxed to seal.
The inside now is the perfect spot to store jewelry, keys, love notes, cards, even silverware or any treasures and keepsakes that you want.

The classic navy exterior really pops with the fun material interior.
