I made this DIY Hanging Terrarium Holder for a friend of mine as a going away gift. A coworker loved it so much she asked me to make her 12 of them!

I started out with a 2x6 piece of lumber that I had leftover from a previous project and cut it to size. I then did a light hand sanding of the piece of wood to smooth out some of the rough parts, but not too much sanding because I wanted it to have a rustic look.

Then I added two coats of Miniwax Gel Stain to the entire board. I let each coat of gel stain dry for 24 hours before moving on to the next step.

I then added the twine for hanging purposes, and nailed in a large roofers nail in the center for my hook!

(I did hand paint the nail with some rose gold paint that I had laying around for an added pop of color.)

And now you have a cute and simple DIY hanging plant terrarium!

Happy DIYing!

Miniwax gel stain is my go to stain for excellent coverage. I used 2 coats for this project. A little goes a long way!

Apply 2 coats of gel stain.

I checked it see if it would hang as I had anticipated, and it did. So I secured the twine with my staple gun.

Add a twine string to the back for hanging purposes!

I added my own twine to the hanging terrarium to pull it all together.

I bought this terrarium at Lowe’s!

I used what I had in the shop.

Twine gut to length and staples in using my staple hand gun.
