DIY Hanging Solar Light

You can make this Hanging Solar Light from just a few items from Dollar Tree, some paint, and just a couple hours of your time.

Here is the complete video tutorial if you would like to watch. The finished light is a stunning piece and no one will believe it was made from just a few items from Dollar Tree.

I grabbed a few items from Dollar Tree so I could make a Solar Light to hang on my wrought iron gate. the main items are a plant hanger, plastic bowl, solar light, and some glue.

I decided I wanted a blue bowl, so I used some frosted glass paint and applied it with a cosmetic sponge to give it a high end look. I ended up doing two coats on the top and the bottom of the bowl to get the deep blue look.

In order to give the top a finished look I cut a plastic champagne glass so that it would look like a cap but still allow the sunlight to charge the solar light. I spray painted it with black paint and glued it to the top of the hanging light.

Here is a picture of the finished light at night. For a complete list of supplies and step by step instructions, you can follow the link to my website.

Very very nice. Thanks for the video, the final part showing what you ended up with when you did the champagne glass, made it much clearer. One more picture before just the night view would have been helpful. Excellent idea.
