IKEA Hemnes Daybed Hack

I wanted a daybed for my 3 year old daughter (less chance of her falling out ya know) but I couldn't decide what I wanted. I wanted something girly and pretty but functional. I adore iron beds but my husband hates them so I ultimately decided against it. I really liked the IKEA Hemnes Daybed but it didn't have that girly and pretty element. So I decided to hack it.
I constructed my own king-size headboard out of 3/4" MDF, foam, and fabric. I decided to replace the back of the Hemnes daybed with this headboard, but I'm not gonna lie, it wasn't easy. I had to drill the same holes in the headboard to get it to match up with the original headboard.
I found the fabric at Home Fabrics (a discount home fabric store) for like $12. The MDF was $30 and the rest of the supplies were about $40. And of course the Hemnes Daybed is $300.
I have so many more plans for this room, but I'm a little undecided and have other things to work on for now. I also made the gold accent pillows but I'm not sure what to do for the middle pillow. Maybe two polka dots and one flower?
Can you guess her favorite animal?
