Kathleen: I use those large plastic tubs that salad comes in! (Treat gently... they can crack when frozen... or double them up.) They work well in refrigerator too!
Hi Kathleen,
I would make sure the containers are sturdy enough to withstand freezer temperatures.
Here's what 1 family did:

I use plastic dish pans. One has vegetables in and another has misc. in. Easy to take out and get what you want and put back in. I think I got mine at the dollar store.
I use shoe box plastic containers. They fit nicely in the freezer and have a lid so you can stack them.
I do the same as Dee. Nice that they stack well and are clear so you can get an idea on what in inside without opening them up. Plus easy to clean.
I go to the dollar store and buy containers I can use in my freezer and fridge- they are easy to maintain as well
