Unclog Drains Without Plunging
Hi Rosemary, this video has two methods, one id=s the dawn with hot water, looks like it should help you you out!

This is my 'recipe' for unclogging a drain, although it doesn't have Dawn:
Pour boiling water down the drain. Then add a half cup of baking soda and let it sit for a minute. Pour a cup of vinegar and a cup of hot water down the drain. Cover loosely and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Pour another pot of boiling water down the drain to flush out the clog.
You pour the Dawn Premium, [do not get the dollar store kind as it is not as thick] down the drain. Let sit about 15 minutes so it gets all the way down the drain. BOIL A soup pot full of water, and pour slowly down the drain. If the drain has grease it will break it up. You may need to do this several times.

You may not need dawn - you can just use vinegar and baking soda: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/repair/plumbing/easy-way-to-unclog-drain-with-common-household-products-14825523
Easy Way to Unclog Drain With Common Household Products
The clog is probably in your P-trap and can be cleaned without harsh chemicals. Place a bucket/container below the P-trap to catch water. Have some water inside a bucket to rinse the trap once removed. Loosen the nuts at top and bottom of the trap and pull it down into the container. Dump out the clog into the bucket and rinse. Then just re-install the P-trap.
I would follow those directions ...it is a miracle solution https://www.pinterest.com/pin/273171533628501310/
