Always use quality brand name thread and needles for best results in hand sewing. Threads magazine is an excellent reliable source of information and videos about sewing, both hand and machine.

Look up Embroidery Stitches. That’s the most decorative, while being functional Basis of all.

It might be worth your while borrowing a book on the subject from the Library or a craft shop, as you will have it always for reference! Happy stitchery........
Generally it is not embroidery stitches that are used to repair items, as they are largely decorative only. Use mending stitches instead.
