What type of hack would you like? I use Command strips for picture hanging. No holes in the wall!
I like to string a wire across the back so that it's easier to get it straight. Once it is straight, I put a dab of poster putty on the bottom corners to hold in place.
I'd say a level laser light and command strips!
I’m a big fan of “mollies” and their matching screws, as it’s a lot of work trying to put the pictures where there’s a stud and that’s essential if they weigh a lot or you’re in a seismically active area.

Command strips - they won't damage the wall.
Not really a hack. Math and Sensibility.
You never need to use the flimsy garbage hook that we all know: The manufacturer intentionally makes all these hooks cheap so the frame falls off the wall and breaks in 12 years or less.
So, You fasten Piano Wire or any other really Good Sturdy Braided Wire to the back of the Frame about 2 inches down from the top, and use:
Center Screw Placement = Frame.Width ÷2
to know where you place the Screw in the wall for the Piano wire.
If you're concerned about the weight, use 3 Screws rather than 1 and place the extra screws 6 to 8 inches to the right and left from the center screw.
I've used this for 120lb Mirrors.
Regina...I use small nails in stubs but you can use command strips
