Hello. There are small plastic coaster that are used for this purpose. I have some glass ones too.
This link below might be helpful to give you some ideas of some alternatives out there in the retail market.Hope this helps you.

You can move the chair slightly but I don't see the problems with a dent - it's just from weight. It goes back when you move the chair away.
Hi ! Get carpet protectors , you can find them at Wal-Mart , home depot or Lowe's.
these are used by putting them under the legs of any heavy weight piece of furniture .

Gwen: to get the dents out of the carpeting... let an ice cube melt in them... and then take a spoon and scrape up the nap. Surprisingly, it works very well.
You've got some good ideas here. I'll add that steam from your iron can also help to get rid of those little dents and "reset" the pile of the carpet.
Hi there,
This is a difficult one to answer, as anything of weight will make marks in your carpet. Maybe, stick carpet to the underside of the coffee table pile down might help, otherwise you can by felt pad or saucer cups for the legs to sit on. Hope that helps!
Put furniture coasters under the legs if you want to remove the indents take a paper bag and iron them out
Hi Gwen, a steamer will remove the dents, then, To avoid these dents in the first place, place your furniture on coasters and move the pieces around regularly. Vacuuming your carpet regularly and placing rugs in strategic places can also minimize denting. If you do see carpet dents, you can remove them by carefully applying ice cubes to the area. Hope this helps you out!
I don't know if you can. But if you want to remove the dents - stick an ice cube on that part of the carpet and let it melt. The dent will go away!
Along time ago we used to have the little square tray looking things that furniture legs would sit in and it wouldn't dent the rug. Lol! I looked it up on Amazon and they are still sold. https://amzn.to/2tZZ8og
