Can you give me advice for organizing my kitchen?
I don't have organization skills. I would like to know the best placement in the kitchen for food, dishes, pots&pans etc. Where to place these items for faster access.

Well, without knowing what you kitchen looks like and what kind of a cook you are...baker, lots of homemade meals, eat out, size of family, etc it is hard to tell you about how to place your items.
Generally, pots and pans near the stove, dishes and silverware close together for ready access to the table, daily use items within grasp, weekly used items below the countertop, cleaning supplies under the sink, rarely used in the panty or the upper hard to reach cupboards. Do you have cabinets or shelves?

Hello. I’ve downsized three times so I now have a smaller kitchen than the past years- long narrow galley style. I lost having an island which I’ve had for 15 years having an island is considerable amount of storage. I put my dishes, mugs, glasses and utensils closest to the sink and dishwasher. On the opposite side I have the cooktop and that’s where the pots and pans are. My food items are the furthest away from the actual workspace or cooking triangle.
Because the kitchen is smaller without a dedicated pantry I do store some additional canned items on stainless steel racks in the garage. I hope this helps.

As far as access, I like my dishes cabinet to be right by the dishwasher if possible so I can take them out and put them away easily. I like the pots to be right by the stove for easy grabbing.

We are looking into this as well, since we are trying to do a kitchen remodel. I want the dishwasher close to the sink for easy rinsing and filling the dishwasher. Pots and pans next to the stove if possible.
We're going with one fairly narrow cabinet (because we have extra space to fill on the one wall) and are going to use it for things I can stand on end. Trays, cookie sheets, muffin trays, etc
Plates, silverware, and cups closest to the dishwasher for quick unloading.
Pots are near the stove.
Pans underneath the oven.
Sliding drawers make it the easiest access on bottom cabinets. I added shelves in the upper cabinets to double the space so that salad plates and dinner plates can be above each other. Storage dishes like Pyrex are also stacked with the use of the wire shelves that double my space. That prevents having to take down 2 or 3 bowls to get the largest one on the bottom.
Food, I keep a dry erase board list on the side of the fridge for what is in the cabinet so I know what is in there & where it is placed. You could do chalkboard inside the cabinet door as well.
Hi Deborah - We have a large kitchen but an awkward layout that does not allow for a lot of storage. Here are some great ideas you can use too. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
