You could create a border with them around the mirror, imitation studs. Then paint any color you's like
A friend of mine decorated a wreath with split peas using Mod Podge. Perhaps you can do the same thing with your mirror. This is her wreath: https://www.curlycraftymom.com/2014/05/spring-wreath-split-pea-wreath-with.html
Just gue on and paint over them. You can also use thumb tacks or a string of cheap beads from the dollar store, like Mardi Gras beads. Just glue on and paint.
Here's some information on using split peas to decorate a wreath. The process for using it on a mirror would be the same. Like Lauren said, you can use Mod Podge: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/craft/seasonal-decor/diy-split-pea-wreath-7573898
DIY Split Pea Wreath
You could glue them on and add other dried items like black eyed peas and corn. I had a letter holder once that had them under glass. Actually, I still have it but I painted it and covered the glass with contact paper because I felt it was too 80's for my home. But now that we have a farmhouse, I am going to move it and pull the paper off.
Hi Yulinda,
This project from another Hometalk member went out in the newsletter recently. Is this the one you want? Wishing you the best.

Hi Yulinda,
Stick them on to the frame in a design or randomly (If you like it then it is ok!) If you want to paint it after in one colour or many colours , then that's ok too. Have fun.
Here is another split pea/mod podge method that would help: https://www.curlycraftymom.com/2014/05/spring-wreath-split-pea-wreath-with.html
