From Drab to Farmhouse!
I knew exactly the look I wanted when I spotted the bottom of an old Hutch. It was perfect to reuse as a buffet or even to sit my TV on.
First things first. I had to remove all of the dust and grime plus the old Hardware. I gave it a good scrubbing with TSP mixed with water. Then went ahead and put a coat of blocker primer called The Boss, because I was going with a lighter color and didn't want to waste a lot of paint. Afterwards it only took two coats of a chalk paint to give it a whole new look and feel.
After my base coat dried I used barn wood stamps that I applied chalk/mineral paint in a darker color with a roller. I have to admit this is the fun part. After everything dried I sealed using a water-based polycrylic. Then stained the top.
Since I was not cutting old barn wood I decided to paint it instead!
I then distressed it using a sander with 220 grit paper. This step is not necessary but I liked the look once I did it.
I love to use leftover Hardware from other projects. Unfortunately they do not always match in color so I went ahead and used spray paint in oil rubbed bronze color.
I added the new hardware which really made the transformation complete.
