I just research this myself, most manufacturers firmly state not leave racks in self cleaning oven During the cleaning cycle.
They need to be cleaned independently. It seems to be the best solution is to soak overnight in ammonia and these links below describe the process. Im consider using plastic bin that is sized for my racks rather than a plastic bag.
Other options do suggest using oven cleaner in a trash bag here as well as another solution.
Here are some helpful links that I hope will help —you choose the best solution for your need.

I am not sure the weather is conducive in your area at this time —but I put my racks outside in a trash bag with the oven cleaner cleaner spray on overnight was a wonderful way to clean the racks. The other option is to use the bathtub which I didn’t care to deal with the resulting greasy crusted mess.

Hi,
Soak and use a Brillo Pad to clean them, then rinse in warm water. May need more than one go.

I remove mine and scrub with an sos pad. The key is to clean as soon as you notice any spots.
Use baking soda to scrub them. Also, its easier to clean them in the bath tub our outside where you can use a hose.
Hello, here's something for you to try, hope it helps you, also, use old towels under these so they don't scratch your tub up
Fill the tub with very hot water, just enough to cover the oven racks. Add up to 1/2 cup of dishwashing soap (or up to 3/4 cup laundry detergent). Let sit overnight. Alternatively: sprinkle baking soda over the oven racks, then douse them with vinegar.

Spray them with oven cleaner (be sure to wear gloves) then put the racks into a black garbage bag (you want to use black because it will absorb the heat). Place in the sun for a few hours (go do something fun -like shop or get a massage) and afternoon a few hours, hose them off! Clean oven racks the easy peasy way!

Cleaning Oven Racks in Bath With Foil: The Easy Method
Hi, we clean ours outside. Place them on black plastic bags and sprinkle liberally with baking soda. Fill a bottle with 50/50 water vinegar mix and spray all over and place another black bag on top. Wait for them to "bake" in the sun for a few hours and them hose them down.
Get oven cleaner spray it on lay the wracks on news paper spray them with cleaner let sit the time it says on can then wipe off then do other side
For standard cleaning, use a soapy sponge and hot water to wipe the racks. For stubborn messes, soak oven racks in hot water, dish soap, and a couple scoops of baking soda. Let the racks soak in this mixture for 15 to 30 minutes before scrubbing clean with a soft sponge.
