You will need to use an oil-based paint on marble.
Chalk paint is one option. https://youtu.be/-RzpjUTWlkg
So should I first paint it with chalk paint let it dry. Then paint on it the motive I want also with chalk?
This might help. Good luck!

U could put a thin layer of resin down and let it cure. Paint ur motifs then add another layer of resin let it cure. It's water proof and u don't have to prime it
Hi this is Peggy. i hope this information helps you pint the tree of life on your marble, sounds beautiful. Can acrylic paint be used on marble?
Because paint doesn't stick well to marble tile, you must abrade the surface to promote adhesion. In addition, instead of applying a standard acrylic latex floor paint, you should coat the surface with a specific type of primer and paint to obtain a durable finish capable of standing up to a large amount of duress.

Hi, you'll need to use an oil-based primer, or the paint won't stick to the surface of the marble. I would also suggest lightly sanding the marble to give the paint something to grip onto.
Hello there,
Had you thought of using Sticky back plastic to make your tree? Could use a stencil to cut it out!! Best wishes
Here's a suggestion, clean your marble very well and lightly abrade the surface, paint, glue or decoupage your tree of life to the marble, cover with resin.
You really can use chalk paint outside. Paint won't really stick to marble for long. Best bet is to use exterior oil based primer and paint. It will fade then peel over time. About 3 years.

In addition to the marble not wanting to “hold” the paint, that marble is porous beyond the top “polish” and
if the piece is sitting out in the rain and snow, the freeze thaw cycles will break down your artwork and eventually the marble itself, over the years.
I would put a little piece of flashing on the edge, after I sealed it with two coats of marine “varnish” or polyurethane.
Maybe reverse paint on a pane of glass and place it on the marble?
