Hi KD. For the dust, the fine specs can be removed with a clay bar, but for the big chunks, I recommend using a nylon putty knife. It should remove the gunk without scratching your wheels to death. I hope this info helps you. Good luck KD.
We just use a pressure washer at the car wash and the soap brush.

Once you remove the brake dust and clean your wheels you might want to consider getting a set of brake dust covers. They are a thin, round metal disc that mounts between your wheel and the hub. They are cheap and any shop will install them for minimal cost

I would not wait any longer than yesterday to power wash them at the car wash & dry them by hand with an clean rag, as brake dust will corrode & pit alloy wheels permanently.

Scrub brush and comet gets it clean or Clorox cleanup and a scrub brush get a small brush to for small areas
