How To: Paint Wood Wall Paneling - Bob Vilawww.bobvila.com › articles › how-to-paint-wood-paneling
Make sure the paneling is clean and dry. Prime with a good stain blocking primer like Kilz. Then paint like painting regular walls. Acrylic latex paint will work. If the paneling has grooves you can fill them with non shrink drywall patching compound. Just put on enough to fill the grooves. Let it dry overnight. Next day use a damp sponge to smooth the patch. Then prime and paint.
Follow Peggys instruction. I use oil based paint on wood however. Looks great and very durable.
Hello
Proper prep can yield a successful job. After walls are clean —prime and paint.
We have a log cabin and too much wood is dark and dreary.
We are quite pleased the previous homeowner placed paneling over natural cedar logs in two bedrooms and painted it a light color. I would suggest not to hesitate to your paint paneling for a room brightening update. Our paneling grooves are not filled and I feel its a huge improvement.
I think you’ll be really pleased with your results. Best wishes in your painting adventure!

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Painting Wood Paneling
Hello Julie,
Depends on what type of paneling you have. Square - then paint the internal squares first, then go back and do the next layer when dry, and then the outside frame. If Straight Vertical - One plank at a time starting at one side. If Horizontal - start at the top and work down - one board at a time. Best wishes.

You can paint wood paneling - I would recommend using a product like OilBond https://amzn.to/2x7DiAu like I used here to paint my cupboards. https://happydealhappyday.com/how-to-paint-kitchen-cabinets-without-sanding/ Helps so you don't have to sand and the paint won't peel.
I cleaned the wood free from any oils or polish, painted a coat of Kiktz, then the paint color I chose with kilts mixed in that. Sherwin Williams mixed it for me. I was very pleased and happy I made the decision to paint the paneling. Very easy.
Just use a roller if there is lines then plaster them with a putty knife let dry then sand smooth and paint you won't even see them
Painted wood panels are very trendy right now. I would use a good primer like Kilz 2 and then paint as normal.
Hometalk has lots of ideas, try the search bar at top left. To paint it, clean it well then use a quality primer then paint.
Perfect thank you :)
Painting can be tedious getting in all of the grooves. But it's a great way to update paneling: https://bachelorettepadflip.com/2013/12/10/master-bedroom-paint-progress/
Here is a post I wrote when I painted paneling.
