I wash mine and recycle them all the time. They are great for making pet beds or cushions.
Hello Indy,
Are we talking of Polyester or feathers? Wash the polyester and use as stuffing for soft toys etc. Don't wash the feathers, but they could be reused for eiderdowns.
If the stuffing has already become lumpy and is breaking up due to many washings, it is time to purchase new pillows. Inspite of your best intentions to reuse the stuffing, there does come a time when it is best to retire it. If you try to wash it again, there is a risk that it may disintegrate to the extent that it clogs up your washing machine and/or your dryer.
When you think about it being estimated that a person spends â…“ of your lifetime sleeping, treat yourself to new pillows.
If you have polyester filled pillows and they have become lumpy it is time for them to go or you could re-purpose them, here is a link of some suggestions:

Hi Indy, are you making pillows and want to reuse stuffing from old pillows? Is there a possibility that you would ever be making pillows? If no, then there is no need to keep it. You can just throw it away. I don't think it can be recycled in the recycle bin because it is a fabric. Our recycling system won't take that.
If you do make pillows, yes.....consider if the pillow stuffing is too old and lumpy just like flip turn said. I reused old stuffing once to save money and I didn't realize how lumpy it was due to the washer. I made new pillows that looked old because they were lumpy for years. Get some good stuffing if you are making pillows. Walmart has great stuffing I use in pillows. It's called morning glory cluster stuff. It's not too expensive, and its very soft.
The other thing I do that may even be cheaper for making pillows is going to a discount store like TJ MAXX and buying a real pillow for super cheap. Use a seam ripper and take out the stuffing for your sewn pillows. Just check pricing and see if that is cheaper per ounce than getting the Walmart stuffing. Disregard if this is all too much info and you aren't making pillows. ha. Good luck!
Yes use them for future pillows. you can make new pillows and use the stuffing, here is a post on making pillows. https://www.simplenaturedecorblog.com/diy-easy-envelope-pillow-with-a-coastal-theme/
Re-use for other pillows but no cannot be recycledl
You can use again but there should be no issues throwing it away.
