Walls are all knotty pine and so are the cabinets. These are the only cabinets I have.
You can paint them as long as you use a bonding primer. Here is my favorite bonding primer.

Clean well using TSP. Don't sand. Use a good bonding primer then paint 2 coats of oil based paint. Most durable and doesn't need a top sealer. Chips less than latex.

you can paint them
Hello Sandralea,
You could use. ESP Primer first before painting, or Cover with Contact, or Fabric using Mod Podge, or Wallpaper, Good luck!
Yes a Primer is a good thing to start. I am currently in the process of redoing some of my furniture at home and kitchen cabinets are one of the items on the list. I have figured out what kind of colors I want to use and what kind of work I want to do but there are so many different little things that I still need to think about. I am now looking for a primer for painting kitchen cabinets because I want my surfaces to be perfect, like without streaks or patches or uneven color. So yes if you are doing new paints never forget the primer.
