Hello yes, but it If it is glossy I would suggest to lightly sand off sheen of planter before painting and use a primer.
Heres a link with a decorative twist.

Hi! If you clean them well first, that will help the paint stick. If it is already a glossy or shiny finish, you will want to dull it by lightly sanding before painting. Some paints have better adhesion than others, so check your paint label. If it works on glass, it should work on ceramic. Stay safe!
Here is some info to help you. https://www.wikihow.com/Paint-Ceramic-Pots
Hi Jeannette, you can paint over ceramic pots with spray paint or craft paint. If the pots are glazed (shiny) sand them lightly first to give the paint something to grip onto.
Hello Jeanette, just sand the pots lightly, clean well with hot soapy water, rinse and let dry. You can spray paint them easily using the directions on the particular spray paint can. Remember 2-3 light coats of paint are better than one thick coat which may cause bubbles and runny drips in the paint surface. Have fun!
