Water down paint 50/50 with water. Dip a paint brush in the paint. Gently paint the walls. Use clean cloth and wipe the paint off to get the effect you want. Practice on a small area or a sample board.
How to White Wash Wood
Just lightly sand to remove any gloss from any poly or poly like finishes with a fine or extra fine grit sandpaper or sanding block. Clean all the sanding dust off completely. Next, thin down the paint 50-50 with water. Dip a paint brush in the paint, paint the wood, and remove some of the paint with a dry cloth. Shop cloths in a box work well for this. So do old t shirts! If you want more white wash, remove less paint, want less whitewash, then remove more paint. With a little trial and error you can get the effect you want. I would practice on a sample board or in an area that is inconspicuous.

To lighten the room, only use light tones. Very pale walls and a light colored flooring, I think
One thing to remember, wipe off whitewash quickly. It's easier to add another coat than to try and remove some of the "white" if it's too much. Depending on what you are trying to achieve.

Be sure to clean and wash walls with TSP. I use oil based 50/50 thinned with paint thinner. Since its oil, no top coats needed and very durable for a damp space like a bath room.
Hi! I haven't done walls with whitewash, but, I have done furniture. It's a great way to lighten things up, but, still have your wood grain. Mixing latex paint with water can be done in different proportions depending on the coverage you want. Mix them in a separate bucket and try it on scrap wood if you have some, to decide if you want more or less of the wood to show. You can play with layering until you get the look you want. Make sure the wood has been cleaned thoroughly and dry. If your wood has any glossy to it, sand it before whitewash or it won't stick. Remove all the dust from sanding before getting started. Good luck and stay safe!

You might be better off painting them with a penitrating stain that would come out better on pine.that comes in a white wash pickled
