Cayenne Pepper sprinkled around should keep them away.
It is virtually imposssible to be rid of them unless you move to an area where they do not live. They are pests, what you can do is take away anything that might attract them-bird feeders, tossing out bread for birds, cover growing fruit. Keep in mind although they do make a lot of distruction, you neighbor may think they are adorable and encourage them by feeding them.
see if this helps

Once spring arrives we stop putting out birdseed/sunflower seeds and suet for the birds. The squirrels stay away until fall and winter arrive because there is no food source. They come back to pick up acorns in the fall.

Hello Kathy,
Get rid or Acorns in your garden!
Hello, Kathy,
You didn't indicate if the squirrels are in your yard or your home.
You can spray "Critter Ridder" on your yard, sprinkle chili powder, garlic powder, or cayenne pepper, plant a large swath of marigolds, basil, sage, or garlic plants.
In your attic, they will chew on wiring and wood, so you'll need to lure them out and shoot them if permissable, or have them professionally trapped (much more costly).
Once you're sure they're outside the house, install appropriately sized "hardware cloth" (heavy duty wire mesh screening) to the openings, using appropriately long screws to secure it in place. Better yet, fold over all edges before installing (make sure to wear heavy gloves, as edges are very sharp).
Squirrels love to enter brick homes via gable vent areas. They'll also chew on older roof vent pipes, wood structures (including roof trusses, etc.). Make sure you've sealed all entry paths.
You may want to use rocks rather than mulch near your house (which invites squirrels to dig), cut back all tree limbs within 10 feet of your house, etc., but note that squirrels can climb brick, quite easily... If you or neighbors feed birds or animals outdoors, they need to stop, immediately.
Squirrels are attracted to flower bulbs such as crocus. REmove them, dip them in Thiram, before planting, or plant in mesh cages, underground.
If you have acorn bearing trees, remove all acorns as soon as possible. Some people place smooth steel or aluminum wraps 6 feet from tree bases to stop squirrel damage, and some have unfortunately had to remove trees. Good luck.
Cayenne pepper will keep them away. Have you tried it?
Cayenne Pepper will rid any area of squirrels or any small rodents or mammals.
