I often consider a stone Perhaps veneer foundation the classic attribute to such a foundation.
Yes picture please. Do you want to hide the foundation or water proof it?
We wanted to water proof our foundation about 25 years ago so we painted the cinder blocks with Dry Lock. It went on just like a very thick paint and has kept our foundation completely dry.
Hi! Our old house had a stone foundation that looked much better painted. You can also add veneer rock or lattice if you want to disguise it. Good luck and stay safe!
Since it's a house from the 1800s, it;s probably a stone foundation and will be difficult to adhere anything to. I would give it a coat of paint for a new look.
It depends on the look and cost and amount of labor you want to put in. You can add mortar in a pattern for stucco look. We bought some plastic panels that look like rock to cover our foundation on our 1880's farmhouse. Brick is timeless. Block that is painted will work. You can also cover with PVC siding. It is fine to come in contact with the ground and you can get it to look like wood.
