Today I want to tell you about how we made a logo sign for 1x-rate.com medallah together with wood craftsmen. It turned out bright and very beautiful.

There are a lot of those who are actively engaged in wood carving. Words, photo frames, personal albums and other accessories for the interior and everyday life are fashionable and in demand. Which is not surprising - it looks beautiful and tasteful, and natural materials, like organic food, are now at a premium.

Among the many masters who make such things to order, it was not by chance that I chose the "small family business", since I had been subscribed to their instagram for a long time. I am humanly impressed by those who do everything “from” and “to” with their own hands, in small runs and with love. In a word, I could not resist and wanted to see with my own eyes how everyone does it.

The reason was suitable - Oleg’s medallion still has not had any identification marks.

Last winter, an order was received from Shwartzkopf Professional for the manufacture of 70 women's names for an advertising company for their new line of hair care products.

Names made of wood were gifts for representatives of various women's magazines and blogs.

Each name was cut out by hand, painted in 3-4 layers in several stages with intermediate drying and grinding, varnished on top and sprinkled with sparkles. They worked 12-13 hours a day, but managed to do everything in a week, including the packaging of each name.

Materials for products (plywood and wood)

Materials for products (plywood and wood) are purchased on the construction market or in a warehouse selling lumber. These are mainly Russian varieties of wood - oak, birch, pine, ash, linden, poplar. A beech gives a very beautiful pattern; it is pink in color, with pronounced veins and does not leave any “burrs” when carving.

With time and experience

With time and experience, it became clear which tree was suitable for what. For example, pine (the most budget option) is a very soft material, it leaves a lot of chips and burrs when carving, and when wet it swells a lot. Beech is perfect for toys - solid, but light, beautiful and smooth (by the way, furniture is often upholstered with them). We also selected paints and protective oils for wood. Everything is trial and error.

Suggested materials:
  • Wood
  • Knife
