Here is an idea that may help you with your project. https://blog.homedepot.com/easy-diy-privacy-screen-for-your-patio/
It will have to be larger than the section to allow for the fall. What is your question?
I am assuming that you are thinking about a canvas cover to provide shade?
Do you want the canvas to be permanently attached to the patio, or only during the summer months?
Have you considered a roll up bamboo shade, that would provide shade and let the breeze through.
You can buy outdoor canvas at a fabric store. I'm not sure if you want it as a curtain or something permanent.
Sail shades are weatherproof, give shade, etc. and are fairly cheap if you research on google. Those might be the best for your project - very light weight and water drains through the fabric.

Shade sails can be purchased at various price points, the cost usually is reflected in the quality, thickness, and density of the fabric. All require sturdy hardware to mount the sails adequately enough so that they do not come detached, and fly away in the wind.
This will be the challenge in trying to mount any canvas ceiling or shade cover to screens.
IMO this cannot be accomplished effectively without first reinforcing the tops of the screens.
Hi Pete,
My suggestion would be to use a Staple gun to do it. Best wishes.
Use a curtain rod hang up from the ceiling then get curtain clips to hang the canvas up they are ring on one end and clip on the other
Hi Pete,
If Timber construction, use a Staple Gun!
