DIY snake repellent
If snakes seem to always find their way into your yard, keep them away with ammonia. Snakes hate the smell and won't come near it. Soak rags in ammonia and place them in unsealed plastic bags. Leave the plastic bags where you usually see the snakes, and they won't come back again.Apr 25, 2016

Snakes are being drawn to your house for a reason, usually it is food or shelter. They usually are after insects and small animals like mice. Bird seed draws small animals, like mice.
Clear away any brush and vegetation, any existing vegetation-cut it short. They like areas where it dark, damp, and cool.
If you have outside vents, put a screen over them. Make sure doors and windows fit snugly & fill in any cracks in the foundation. They can get through the tiniest crack or hole so be sure to seal up where pipes and wires enter the house.
If you have firewood, store it about 2' off the ground, this makes it difficult for them to get to and hide.
Compost needs to be contained.
Here's a snake repellent recipe:
1 oz clove oil
1 oz cinnamon oil
Mix together and spray around the outside of your house, repeat after it rains.

You could always buy a mongoose. :-)
Snakes enter a building because they’re lured in by dark, damp, cool areas or in search of small animals, like rats and mice, for food. Snakes can be discouraged from entering a home in several ways. Keeping the vegetation around the house cut short can make the home less attractive to small animals and snakes. Other methods include screening all outside vents, making sure doors and windows fit tightly, and sealing cracks and holes around the foundation. Check access doors to basements and crawl spaces to be certain they fit tightly. Even tiny holes should be sealed.
Hello Valerie,
Don't leave doors, windows open. Fill any cracks in building. Ask your local authority for advice. Sorry I can't be anymore help! Wishing you a safe existence.......
