HOW TO REFINISH A BROWN METAL BOWL FOR A LIGHTER LOOK?
I WANT TO REFINISH A BROWN METAL BOWL INTO A LIGHTER COLOR. IT WAS IN A CONDO I BOUGHT AND I LOVE THE PEDESTAL TYPE BOWL BUT IT'S TOO DARK. SOMETHING THAT WOULD LOOK BRIGHT---MAYBE A GOLD COLOR OR ANTIQUE WHITE.

Just spray paint it the color you want. Make sure it's clean, wipe it down with alcohol to make sure it's free of grime
You can buy a spray paint to use on metal and they come in some really cool colours.
All of the above. You'll find a good selection of the new metallic spray paints. I personally like Rustoleum spray paint. So far I have redone some doorknobs and two wall sconces. Clean thoroughly, first. Then paint outdoors when it isn't windy. Do very light coats to minimize any drips, etc. Good luck and stay safe!
Rustoleum makes a paint with a hammered finish that might give a good look to your metal bowl.
Thank you all for your ideas.
You can paint it. I have painted quite a few items that are metal with RustOleum spray paint. Make sure you clean it first. I like to rough the existing finish with fine steel wool before I clean and paint.
if you plan to use it for food be sure to use a food safe paint
