How to paint pendant lights without taking them down

I have gold pendant lights above my island and sink. We are changing everything to silver. How can I paint them without have to disconnect and take them down? Is there a rub on paint out three that would work? I bought some stuff from Michaels but it isn’t going on smooth - tried with a rag and with a foam brush.
Tried it on a knob handle before attempting on the light fixture.
Hi there, I would check and see if Rustoleum's hardware paint comes in "paint on" form and not just in spray cans. Did you try several coats of the metallic paint you were working with?
Can't you just tape off the globe and the ceiling, put a tarp underneath and paint away? If you plan to spray paint, then that would present a greater problem. Or, it would for me. Be sure to clean the gold areas really real before you paint.

you should be able to remove the glass part pretty easily. That will make painting easier. then you could maybe spray paint. You could create a spray tent idea out of a box about the same height as your pendant to block overspray. Cover everything you don’t want painted with tape and paper. It will be a bit finicky, but it should work.
Try Rustoleum Silver metallic paint. Here's some nightstands I painted with it. It comes in a jar and I brushed it on. You would need to check and see if it's close enough to require high heat paint.

If you protect all the surroundings and surfaces, you could remove the glass parts, tape the socket and spray paint. If you turn the power off and remove them, it is much easier, though. I just changed wall sconces from black to silver and got great results with Rustoleum. Good luck and stay safe!
I would try a metallic paint from the hardware store. Something that says it adheres to metal. Use foam brush to avoid brush marks and do super thin coats.
Tape around the ceiling and spray paint.
Maybe a small paint brush with silver paint

You could try Rub n' Buff or a brush on Rustoleum paint. Be sure to clean the metal super well of all grease and grime, otherwise stuff won't stick.
